Frequently Asked Questions
We know that there are what seems like hundreds of questions to do with vouchers and discounts, but over the years the same ones crop up time and time again, so we’ve taken a big chunk of the most common questions we get asked and answered them for you in full over on our FAQs page
But for now here’s a small selection of the most frequently asked frequently asked questions….
Q.1 What are discount / voucher codes?
Discount codes, also known as voucher codes, promotional codes and e-vouchers to name but a few, allow you to save money when shopping online. The retailer that the code is for will allow you to enter the code, which is usually a word or series of random numbers and letters, into the discount box on their website to give you some sort of discount.
Q.2 What is the difference between a discount code, promotional code, promo code or voucher code?
Nothing, they are all the same thing and all result in a nice big money saving for anyone who uses them.
Q.3 How do I use a discount code?
Discount codes are really easy to use. All you need to do is add the items you want to buy to your online basket and begin the checkout process. Then you need to keep your eyes peeled for an area within the checkout pages that lets you redeem the discount code. Once you’ve entered the code and applied it to your order, you should see the discount removed from the transaction amount immediately.
Q.4 How do I get to view the code and copy it?
Once you have found the discount code you’re interested in on DiscountCoder.com, simply click the link that says “Click here to show code and open website”. Once clicked, the code will appear for you to highlight, right click + copy. At the same time the retailers website will open in a new tab, ready for you to go shopping.

Guides & Videos
One of the most frustrating things about voucher codes is that you need to figure out how to use them, and whilst the majority of retailers make it fairly straightforward to add the code to your purchase, some like to make it a little more tricky. That’s why we’ve added the ‘Guides’ module to the right-hand column of our retailer pages, which, on our Comet discount codes page, looks like this:
Comet Guides
Here’s a list of useful Comet guides & videos to help you make the most of our discounts.
- How to use a Comet discount code – screenshot tutorial
- How to use a Comet discount code – video tutorial
As you can see it’s a really simple little green box that contains links to extremely useful information, namely how to use a Comet discount code in both screenshot tutorial and video tutorial format.
The screenshot tutorial format does exactly what it says on the tin, guiding you through the steps of using a discount code, by showing you both a visual guide, as well as an in depth description of what to do.
The same goes for our video tutorials accept there’s not much reading to be done, just sit back, relax and watch our helpful videos show you the way.
If you’re interested in getting to grips with what the two different formats look like then why not take a look at the ‘How to use a Comet discount code’ screenshot tutorial and also the ‘How to use a Comet discount code’ video tutorial.
Now although we’ve been beavering around for hours and hours making sure we have as many helpful screenshot and video tutorials as we possibly can, it’s most definitely a work in progress. So to avoid any confusion, if there aren’t any screenshot or video tutorials available for a particular retailer, the ‘Guides’ modules won’t be displayed.
Find Your Nearest Store
Sometimes shopping online just doesn’t get the job done, it could be due to an out of stock item or delivery times are too long, whatever the reason there are some instances where you absolutely have to head out to the actual store. That’s why we’ve added in the ‘Find your nearest store’ module:
Find your nearest store
Don’t fancy shopping online at Comet.co.uk? Why not search for your local Comet store below.
Search your postcode here…
As you can see it’s pretty self explanatory. All you need to do is enter your postcode, or the postcode of where you would like your directions to start from, and hit ‘search’.
Now you’ll be faced with a page that looks a lot like this one (apart from the location obviously):
Here you are presented with a maximum selection of 10 local stores (the retailer you are searching for is based on the retailer page that your search began on, Comet in this example). Now either select the store marker you want to get directions for or choose from the list below the map and hit the ‘Get Directions’ link.
Alternatively if your search did not return any relevant results or you would like to change the search criteria you can do so using this section:
This form allows you to edit the postcode you are using as your point of reference, the store name you are searching for (pre-populated by the initial retailer page) and the radius of your search. Obviously the wider the search radius, the further you would need to travel should a result be found. Once you have entered your new parameters, press the ‘Search’ button to start a new search.
Once you have clicked to get directions to the appropriate store you are taken to a page like this:
As you can see the route from the postcode you entered earlier (Marker A), to the store you selected on the last screen (Marker B), has been highlighted for you with step by step guidance displayed just to the right of the map.
You will also notice the blue ‘Click here for printable directions’ link just above the map, which once pressed, displays the map and directions in a printer friendly fashion.
* Obviously this feature is only available for retailers with actual shops
